I recei\u00adved my Ph.D. from the University of Bologna in 2000 and wor\u00adked the\u00adre as a Research Assistant from 2002 to 2005. Since 2005, I have been at the University of Trento, whe\u00adre I am cur\u00adren\u00adtly a full pro\u00adfes\u00adsor. I have taught a ran\u00adge of cour\u00adses, inclu\u00adding algo\u00adri\u00adthms and data struc\u00adtu\u00adres, distri\u00adbu\u00adted systems, and, more recen\u00adtly, com\u00adpu\u00adter scien\u00adce education.<\/p>\n

My research jour\u00adney began with lar\u00adge-sca\u00adle decen\u00adtra\u00adli\u00adzed systems and later shif\u00adted to cen\u00adtra\u00adli\u00adzed gra\u00adph algo\u00adri\u00adthms (thanks to my bril\u00adliant Ph.D. stu\u00adden\u00adts). In recent years, howe\u00adver, I\u2019ve gra\u00addual\u00adly tur\u00adned my focus toward com\u00adpu\u00adter scien\u00adce edu\u00adca\u00adtion. What began as a side inte\u00adre\u00adst has beco\u00adme a full pro\u00adfes\u00adsio\u00adnal reboot. Entering a new research field means star\u00adting over in many ways\u2014new que\u00adstions, new col\u00adla\u00adbo\u00adra\u00adtors, and the hum\u00adbling expe\u00adrien\u00adce of rebuil\u00adding cre\u00addi\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adty from the ground up.<\/p>\n

These days, I spend most of my time wor\u00adking with tea\u00adchers, schools, and stu\u00adden\u00adts, pro\u00admo\u00adting com\u00adpu\u00adter scien\u00adce edu\u00adca\u00adtion as a brid\u00adge bet\u00adween aca\u00adde\u00admia and the wider world. What began as a depart\u00admen\u00adtal role has gro\u00adwn into a uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty-wide mis\u00adsion: I now ser\u00adve as vice-rec\u00adtor for outreach\u2014proof that if you show enou\u00adgh enthu\u00adsia\u00adsm for some\u00adthing, someo\u00adne will even\u00adtual\u00adly put you in char\u00adge of it.<\/p>\n

My research is dri\u00adven by a deep inte\u00adre\u00adst in how peo\u00adple learn in com\u00adpu\u00adter scien\u00adce and with com\u00adpu\u00adter science\u2014using its con\u00adcep\u00adts and tools to think, explo\u00adre, and crea\u00adte across disci\u00adpli\u00adnes. I\u2019m espe\u00adcial\u00adly focu\u00adsed on desi\u00adgning and eva\u00adlua\u00adting edu\u00adca\u00adtio\u00adnal expe\u00adrien\u00adces that foster mea\u00adning\u00adful, reflec\u00adti\u00adve, and inclu\u00adsi\u00adve lear\u00adning, with par\u00adti\u00adcu\u00adlar atten\u00adtion to how com\u00adpu\u00adta\u00adtio\u00adnal thin\u00adking and digi\u00adtal tech\u00adno\u00adlo\u00adgies can sup\u00adport both stu\u00adden\u00adts and tea\u00adchers in diver\u00adse contexts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
